Arriving at the harbour, we were greeted by flat a calm sea and warm sunshine, definately a day for the sun screen and hats. We set off for our 8 hour trip, and soon had a ready supply of Mackerel attacking our hooks, we kept these for bait. We also caught a few small Pollock and Coalfish, which were returned.

We had a good, steady days fishing with Wayne, taking a variety of species including Codling, Ling, Pollock, Coalfish, Pouting, and Wrasse. We lost a lot of tackle due to the rough ground we were fishing on. A good tip here is to use lead filled copper pipe instead of regular weights. These dont seem to snag up as much on the weed covered rocks.

Jimmy Silcock took an Octopus, which brought a smile to his face. We used a variety of rigs, but Stevie Montgomery did best with a Mackerel baited squid rig that no-one else had in his box. His best fish being a 3lb 10oz ling, which proved to be days best fish, winning him the £16 pool. The fish were not big, but reasonably plentiful and we all had an enjoyable day.
