For our latest club outing, we once again joined Hamish Currie on board Predator out of Red Bay in County Antrim. The weather on the way to Red Bay was looking lovely, however, there was a strong south westerly breeze forecast, which we knew would hamper our fishing later in the day. We were all on board by 09.30, and off we went to the fishing grounds. The first 2 hours were fairly good, with a mixture of species being landed, including codling, launce, mackerel, whiting, pollock, dogfish, wrasse and small flatfish. We then made a move to a cod bank where a good number of codling were landed, including the best fish of the day, and pool winner of 4lb 10oz. This was caught by guest angler Sean Burns.
The wind by this time had really picked up, and we moved to an inshore, rough ground mark, in search of a conger eel. No eels showed, and we made do with a mix of dogfish and small coalfish.
On the day the guest anglers did best, the best club fish being a 2lb 10oz dogfish by Glen Murphy, and 2 large mackerel from Dan McMahon.
1st place Glen Murphy 15 points
2nd place Dan McMahon 10 points
3rd place Dan McMahon 5 points
